Collecting Pinecone and Other Elves!

Cute and Quirky...
Whereas many of America's favorite vintage ornaments were made in Japan...Pinecone People and a whole host of little characters originated in Germany, West Germany and Italy.  Martha Stewart's magazine did a whole layout on these ornaments last Christmas.  Unfortunately, Japan was quick to copy the German designs...so all my quirky little characters say "Japan."  They are almost identical.

Pinecone Snowmen

Assorted Elves.

Clowns and Cute Baby Elf

Batting Mr. & Mrs. Claus
I found them still in their little box.

Angels.

Elf Musicians.  Remind me of Lucy.

Unusual Pipe Cleaner Elves.
They spell "XMAS"...not my preferred spelling of Christmas!

Hope you liked my little characters!
Today I am sharing a dinner date with my husband...it's our anniversary.
1975 to 2011...36 years of adventure!
For these years of happiness, I am particularly grateful.

Hi Shirly - What a cute collection. I love the musician elves. Hope you and your mister had a fabulous anniversary dinner. Thrity-six is quite the milestone.

I am so glad we are tag swap partners. Off to see more of your blog, have a great day.

Good Morning Shirley,
Oh how I love this collection. My favorite ornaments of childhood were little pinecone elves and a hurly candle nativity set!! I remember putting those ornaments out each year on a side table in our den or on a shelf on a book case!! My Mom lost these years ago but I can still see them in my memory!
I hope you had a lovely date with your hubby on your anniversary! Such a special time for you both!
Hugs,
Lynn

I have a whole crowd of the Japanese version, but have been slowly finding the german ones and have 1 from italy--they are hard to find but are so much nicer than the Japanese version. Recently I saw that World Market was carrying a chinese version of new ones! thanks for the info!

I have a few from my mom. As they are marked Japan, do they date from after WW2?
